We have a rich tradition of meeting the needs of God’s people including physical needs (food, clothing, shelter); also mental needs such as providing companionship, compassion, and emotional support. Our belief in mission and service is demonstrated through our history with the following ministries.

Feeding Ministry

Participating in food drives, providing holiday food baskets for needy families during Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter; also donating money and volunteer services to Elijah’s Promise.

Shelter Ministry

For more than two decades, participating in a citywide winter over-flow shelter, housing homeless men at night for 2 weeks.

Children/Youth Programs

The education and nurturing of children and youth is important to our congregation. For example, we partner with a number of local churches on the Hall Scholarship program for city youth. Pilot Me, a Rutgers University student tutoring program is another local partnership.

Disaster Relief

We are a caring congregation and wherever disaster strikes, we ache and pray for the victims, families and communities affected, and whenever we can, we offer some monetary relief. We take our special offerings seriously and in recent years, we have supported victims of natural disasters around the world including Haiti and Nepal.

Other Support

We also engage in other forms of activities to support the local community some of which are ongoing whilst others are short-term projects. This past year, we collaborated with Bayard Street Presbyterian Church on drives to help the needy and a Back-to-School drive. During other years, we have held sidewalk sales to benefit the surrounding neighborhood.
