Rev. James Hart Brumm

Pastor

The Rev. James Hart Brumm was born in New Brunswick and grew up in Middlesex County. A graduate of Westminster Choir College, New Brunswick Theological Seminary, and Drew University, he was a church musician before being ordained as a Minister of the Word & Sacrament in the Reformed Church in America in 1987.

He has served congregations in Plainfield and South River, New Jersey, and College Point, Grahamsville, and North Greenbush, New York. Pastor James currently works at New Brunswick Theological Seminary as Director of the Reformed Church Center, the Theological Writing Center, and the Seminary Archives, and he serves as General Editor of The Historical Series of the Reformed Church in America.

The author of several essays and articles and contributor to books and resources published around the world, he has also authored over 300 hymns, about 180 of which are collected in three books. He and his wife, the Rev. Kathleen Hart Brumm, are the parents of Christopher and the grandparents of Isaiah, and they live in Highland Park with their dog, Pepper.
